General information

Drivers age

Minimum 21 years old (with min 1 year driver's license) for standard car groups (A,B , C , D, D+ , E)

Over 25 years old for premium vehicles (with min. 3 years driving license)

Fuel policy

THE SAME ( paid by the renter) or any difference will be charged

NO REFUND FOR EXTRA AMOUNT OF FUEL (above the level that noted on the agreement)

Ferrying the car

Use of ferry is forbidden and is considered as negligent that voids any insurance..

VEHICLE RESERVATION

Reservations are confirmed for a group of vehicles not a particular model. The vehicle may be substituted with an alternative, similar or upgraded vehicle.

Our company has the right to change car model in exceptional cases.

Cancellation policy

Our company allows you to cancel your reservation with no cost 48 HOURS BEFORE (after the 48 hours there is no refund of the reservation deposit).

  • NO CANCELATION OR REFUND AFTER SIGNING THE AGREEMENT
  • From the specified reservation time and up to 1 hour after that, the reservation is active. After that the reservation will be voided

Ways of paying

AT THE OFFICE:  BY CREDIT / DEBIT CARD OR CASH.

ON LINE: To confirm the rental booking you need to pay a deposit of 35% or the total amount on line.

The balance is to be redeemed upon picking-up your rented car in Rhodes Island.

Late Returns

  • If you cannot return the vehicle on time, it is crucial to contact the rental company immediately to extend your agreement (if there is availability) ,cause late returns can impact subsequent hirers .

After the end time stated on the agreement and the grace period of 30 min, the booking will be classed as a late return and additional charges will occur.

  • Beyond 1.5 hours of non show , you will be charged for an additional full day
  • Uninsured Driving:If your rental spans into a new day, your insurance coverage might expire, leaving you liable.
  • Legal Right to Repossess: Rental company has  the right to retrieve its vehicle if it is not returned at the designated time, often described in agreements as "without further notice".
  • Breach of Contract: Once the agreed-upon return time passes, the renter is in breach of the rental agreement, allowing the company to take immediate action to recover the car.

Privacy of Personal Data

SUN RENT A CAR does not reveal, publishes, sells or exchanges personal data and information.
Our rent a car company and site is committed to respecting and protecting your right to privacy of your online connection. Our company  does not sell, rent, or otherwise grant personal information submitted by visitors to our site to any third party. By personal information, we mean the name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Our company  requests the completion of the above items for the following reasons:

  • Name: Your name is required to make the reservation.
  • Phone Number: Your telephone number is essential for us to contact you for the best booking service experience.
  • Email: Your email is necessary, so we can confirm the reservation.
  • Address – Your address with country is necessary because in the event of a violation of the law, the company is obligated to send you the original document of violation.

The above data will be retained in the records of the company for a period of five (5) years.

This information will not be used for unintended communication.

                  

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW)

CDW is included in the rate and limits the driver’s liability in the event that the rental car is damaged, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Rather than the full cost of the value of the vehicle, the driver is responsible for the first portion, known as their ‘excess’ stated on the Rental Agreement.

CDW does not include antennas, tires, wheels, the interior and the  underneath of the vehicle.

Exceptions for CDW

   No insurance covers the following cases.

  • Damages and/or losses to the inside/outside the vehicle if there is no accident.(in case of a reported accident, everything is covered)
  • Damages caused to the underside of the vehicle due to off-road driving and driving on beaches .
  • Burnt out clutch due to misuse.
  • Burnt out engine and/or broken oil tank (after hitting the underside of the vehicle)
  • Damages caused due to towing of the vehicle (beach—mountains, etc.)
  • Accidents and damages caused while under the influence of alcohol / drugs.
  • Any damages caused with intent and/or deliberate of road driving.
  • Accidents caused by no-named/no-dedicated drivers. In these cases, the renter will be liable for any damages caused.
  • Any unreported damages/accidents may be construed as negligence and will be subjected to payment.
  • Any damages and/or accidents must be reported to the rental company immediately on the provided telephone numbers.

Loss or removal of vehicle registration/number plates.
If the number plates are lost, the renter will be subjected to the daily rental rate of the vehicle until replacements have been arranged and put in place. Additional administrative costs will also been incurred, and these will be determined by the rental company per case. The renter will also be charged for any traffic fines due to the lost registration/number plates.

Loss or damaged of the vehicle keys
In case of loss/damages to the keys during the rental, the renter will be subjected to replacement costs. A 150euro to 450euro charge will be incurred depending on the type of vehicle. Additional costs may be incurred for any required key/vehicle re-programming.

Excessive dirty vehicles

Should the vehicle be collected at the end of the rental and found to be excessively dirty, a 40euro – 80euro charge will be incurred.

Accidents

In case of a collision, accident or any other incident with or without a third party involvement, the renter:

Should immediately inform the car rental company.

Failure to report : accidents truthfully and in keeping with the rental terms and conditions will result the driver being liable for all claims costs.            

Installation of Baby / Child Seats

The client should inform the SUN rent a car company for the necessity of baby / child seats

Installation Responsibility: Due to liability reasons, parents or guardians are responsible for properly installing child/baby seats in the vehicle.

This is due to liability in case of inappropriate installation.

  • Booking Requirement:You must select child seats as an "extra" during the online booking process to guarantee availability, note.

Rental Cost: Child seats often involve an additional charge, typically starting around €7+VAT/rent
